A-1 Portable Buildings is more than just modular buildings!

It all started in the early 50’s under the name "Orville T. Reynolds Waste Removal" founded by Orville T. Reynolds, a Lexington native. The family business then evolved into A-1 Sanitation (portable restrooms) in the early 60’s, which was purchased by 2nd generation family in 1980 by Rick and Gail Reynolds. During the early 70’s we began carrying office trailers. We sold our sanitation division in 2002 and are now incorporated, as A-1 Portable Buildings, Inc. Our main office is located in Lexington at 801 Enterprise Drive, Lexington. We also have an office in Louisville at 5470 Shepherdsville Road. In 2004, A-1’s Lexington division started The Storeroom, LLC – Mobile Storage (a revolutionary way to pack & store your items). The Storeroom shares the same location with A-1’s Lexington location in Enterprise Business Park.

We have continually focused on staying a vital service provider in Lexington and surrounding communities. Doing so has made us who we are today. We are focused on becoming the leading privately owned mobile office and storage rental business in Kentucky.

We have recently introduced several new products and services which make A-1 unique in our industry. Most individuals and businesses know us for our past portable restrooms, or think of us when needing a contractor office, on-site storage or a type of classroom space. We are so much more than that!

Contractors have needed on-site office and storage for years now, but over time we have noticed how their needs are changing. Theft has been become an increasing concern, so we have made many improvements to our units to provide added security; ADT security systems, security bars on windows, steel doors and lock boxes (a steel housing which protects padlocks) on ground level containers.

This past year we started modifying our ground level storage containers, converting them into "High Security Ground Level Offices" . By doing so we can offer mobile offices with ground level access (no set-up or steps required), in a variety of floor plans, which offer the highest level of security (ADT Security Systems, steel doors, lock boxes and bars on windows) available. All units are fully lined and insulated with electric heat and air-conditioning. We are striving to build the most energy-efficient units possible, to keep rising cost of job site utilities to a minimum. We are also paying close attention to detail to create an efficient work environment different from traditional mobile offices. We have created a solid & secure workspace that is built to last. A-1’s high security offices offer a solution to keep the job site safe (reduced risk of injures by being ground level), secure, organized & efficient. Our "High Security" units are rapidly becoming our most commonly requested job site office!

We also noticed that customers needed a more convenient way to relocate stored items from one location to another. Here a few of the new ways we have solved this problem:

A-1 Portable Buildings - Relocation of loaded Ground Level Storage Containers used for on-site storage: For years we have been renting ground level storage containers, placing them on job sites, retail lots, homes, farms, etc. They offer an affordable solution for temporary or long-term storage needs. The dilemma has been what to do when you need to move those items being stored. There was no way to relocate the containers while loaded. Both A-1’s Lexington and Louisville locations acquired this past summer a piece of equipment called a "Swing Thru" that can pick-up our containers loaded from either side of the trailer. It requires less space than our traditional tilt bed trailer. It moves ground level containers very quickly and efficiently. Relocation of loaded containers provides savings of time and money. There is no longer the need to empty their contents, load them in a truck and reload them on the new site. We can deliver a container, the customer can have it loaded and we can pick-it up and redeliver it. There is no rushing involved. Items remain level at all times (no tilting of load) and the contents are stored in a secure manner. Contractors can keep the same container indefinitely and just have it relocated. Those in other industries can utilize our containers by having supplies loaded at one location, then delivered to another. The possibilities are endless.

The Storeroom – Mobile Storage:
Whether you are de-cluttering to sell your home, needing storage while between homes, have supplies/product requiring storage or just need extra space for your stuff, we have the perfect solution! Off-site storage used to require a scheduled period of time, a truck (borrowed or rented), some additional labor (friends or hired) and handling everything twice, which increases risk of items becoming broken going into storage and twice coming out (makes my back hurt thinking about it). Not anymore! We have eliminated all these problems!

The Storeroom delivers a mobile storage container measuring 5’x8’x7’ simply called "Yellow Boxes" to your property; you load them at YOUR convenience. When ready we pick up your "Yellow Box(s)" and store in our facility, which is climate-controlled with a security, sprinkler and fire system. We can deliver 1,2,3 or 4 of our "Yellow Boxes" at one time. The size of our "Yellow Boxes" allows you to customize how much storage you need – therefore not paying for more than you need. Each "Yellow Box" allow you to store approximately 1 to 1 ½ rooms of household items or about a 2,000 square foot home in a full load of 4 "Yellow Boxes". The 5’x’8’x7’ size reduces the risk of items shifting around in a larger unit, and each holds up to 1,500 lbs. Our rates are the most competitive! We are locally owed and here when you need us! Short or long-term storage needs are no problem! We also sell packing and moving supplies (we will even deliver them to you).
